According to Jinse Finance, Eric Trump, the son of U.S. President Trump and an advisor to the Japanese-listed Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet, has obtained 3.3 million shares of the company through acquisition rights. He will also attend the special shareholders' meeting on September 1, during which Metaplanet will vote on the issuance of up to 555 million preferred shares. If approved, it could raise up to 555 billion yen (approximately 3.8 billion dollars). However, analysis points out that Metaplanet's Bitcoin financing "flywheel" strategy has recently begun to slow down. As of August 29, the company's stock price has fallen by 54% from its peak on June 16, while Bitcoin has increased by 2%. This has led Evo Fund, which had previously reached a stock acquisition rights agreement with it, to reduce its willingness to exercise warrants, resulting in a continuous decrease in the amount of Bitcoin that Metaplanet has been acquiring recently. Natixis analyst Eric Benoist has warned that the Bitcoin premium is key to the success of Metaplanet's financing "flywheel" strategy, but available capital cannot be supplied indefinitely.
