🚨 Oil prices plummet to $86.50, gold ETF hits historic high
📉 Oil price collapse
Affected by expectations of a one-month ceasefire between the US and Iran, WTI crude oil broke below $87 during the session, while Brent crude lost the $100 mark. The market is front-running the fade of the "war premium" — despite Iran denying negotiations, the situation remains highly uncertain.
🥇 Gold surges
Meanwhile, the largest US gold ETF $GLD assets under management have skyrocketed to $181 billion, approaching historic peaks:
More than doubled in under a year, surged +503% over 8 years
Gold holdings reached 1,098 tonnes, highest since April 2022
Added 274 tonnes since March 2024
