Abstract generation in progress

On December 5th, Jinshi Data News, the leader of the largest opposition party in South Korea, Lee Jae-myung, said that it might be difficult to obtain enough support from the ruling party to impeach President Yoon Seok-yul, who declared martial law. Lee Jae-myung said in an interview on Thursday that the situation is still in an “unstable state” before the National Assembly votes on the impeachment of Yoon Seok-yul in the next few days. Although Lee Jae-myung’s party, the Together Democratic Party, has a majority in the National Assembly, the party needs at least eight votes from the ruling party, the People’s Power Party, to push for an impeachment motion. Lee Jae-myung said, “The problem is that although many ruling party members have the intention, they need to deviate from the People’s Power Party’s line, which makes them a bit difficult.” Nevertheless, Lee Jae-myung still said that even if Yoon Seok-yul survives the initial vote, his party will continue to seek to remove him from office, “the only question is whether he will step down the day after tomorrow, a week later, or one month or three months later.”
