Next year, Meta will show off a prototype of advanced AR glasses, which it claims to be "the most advanced consumer electronic device"
Bit Recently, Meta Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth revealed in an interview that the company may show a prototype of advanced AR glasses codenamed “Orion” in 2024.
It is reported that Meta has been deeply involved in the AR field for at least eight years, investing tens of billions of dollars, hoping to create a revolutionary product comparable to the iPhone. However, last year the company announced that it was abandoning its plans for mass production of the Orion glasses, instead offering them to select developers and as a sample to showcase future AR technology. In the interview, Bosworth confirmed previous media reports, saying that a small number of Meta employees will begin testing the glasses internally next year, and said that “I think there is a good chance that people will have the opportunity to experience it in 2024”. According to reports, Meta aims to launch this AR glasses product around 2027.
