The Governor of the Federal Reserve (Fed) Stephen Miran is advocating for a sharp fall in interest rates of up to 50 basis points (0,50%) to support the economy of America, larger than most Fed officials, who prioritize a fall of 25 basis points. At the September 2025 FOMC meeting, the Fed reduced by 25 basis points to a level of 4.00%–4.25%, with Miran being the only one supporting a reduction of 50 basis points, arguing that high interest rates slow growth and job creation.

He argued that neutral interest rates have fallen due to labor and migration trends, while continuing to call for strong easing. The October FOMC meeting is expected to further reduce by 25 basis points, while forecasts suggest interest rates could drop to 3.50%–3.75% by the end of 2025 and 3.25%–3.50% in 2026. History shows that cutting interest rates often boosts cryptocurrency; Bitcoin rose by ~5% after the September cut, and large-cap altcoins also increased. A reduction of 50 basis points could drive buying into crypto and start a strong market cycle.
