Claude seems to be building a one-sentence app, bolt.new CEO responds: I asked Anthropic in person last year when they would start.
ME News Report, April 13 (UTC+8), according to 1M AI News monitoring, AI full-stack application development platform bolt.new CEO Eric Simons posted on X that last fall at an Anthropic dinner, he sat next to the CTO of a competitor Lovable, and asked Anthropic in person: “When will you make me and this guy lose our jobs?” The other person’s expression “said it all.” Recently, multiple screenshots circulated on X showing that Anthropic is developing full-stack application generation features in Claude, where users can input a description to generate a complete application with database and authentication, similar to what Lovable and bolt.new are doing. Anthropic has not confirmed this yet. Simons said that when bolt.new launches in October 2024, he expected everyone to enter this track. The past year has indeed proven this: new companies flooding in, Replit transforming, Wix, Figma, and Google entering one after another. He believes “the phase of easy growth has officially ended,” comparing the current situation to 2021: companies chasing high growth and high churn rate consumer revenue have hit a ceiling, and excessive funding and valuations could become liabilities. The way out is to focus on specific workflows with high retention, raise enough funds to fight, but not inflate valuations to the point where the next round can’t support them.
