I just researched something interesting about the worst currency in the world and wanted to share it. It's crazy how much some countries are struggling economically. The Iranian Rial tops the list — 1 Rial is only worth 0.000024 USD. Sanctions and extreme inflation have completely destroyed the currency. The Vietnamese Dong (0.000041 USD) also faces declining exports and investment restrictions. Then there's the Sierra Leone Leone, recovering from Ebola's aftermath, currently at 0.000048 USD. The Laotian Kip (0.000049 USD) and the Indonesian Rupiah (0.000064 USD) complete the list of the weakest currencies. The Rupiah is especially interesting — Indonesia is the strongest economy in the region, but the currency suffers from inflation and recession fears. It just shows that even larger economies are not immune to currency crises. Having the world's weakest currency is a real problem for these countries.
