# Making Money by Luck Is Trading's Most Deadly Poison
It makes you believe:
You're gifted, your intuition is infallible, you're the chosen one.
It addicts you to quick money, makes you disdain slow money, compound returns, and systems. You think traders who follow rules are both foolish and cowardly.
Worse still, you confuse profitable trades with good trades, and treat random herd behavior and gambler's mentality as the holy grail of trading.
This is the market's harshest selection mechanism:
Random rewards for mistakes, long-term liquidation of ignorance.
Why does money earned by luck eventually get wiped out by lack of skill?
1. Dead-locked cognition limits wealth ceiling
You can't keep money outside your understanding. Luck brings temporary riches but teaches you nothing about risk control or exits—you'll eventually return everything to the market.
2. The law of large numbers never lies
In the short term, luck can produce consecutive profits. Long-term, if your system has no positive edge, probability will revert. Fees, drawdowns, and black swans will slowly consume all your unrealized gains.
3. Arrogance is the accelerator of blown accounts
The overconfidence from luck makes you abandon stops, refuse to review, and scorn risk.
Losing reverence is where liquidation begins.
Break the profit-loss curse with three things
1. Distinguish luck from skill
After every winning trade, ask yourself:
What's the logic? Where's my risk control? Is this system execution or market chaos?
Don't count lucky money as part of your real ability.
2. Only trade within your edge
Only take money you understand, can replicate, and can control.
Don't touch opportunities outside your model, no matter how tempting.
3. Always respect the market
Admit you can be wrong, admit the market is unpredictable.
Humility, risk management, position discipline, and rules—these are your true moat in the market.
Summary
Trading isn't about who makes money fastest, it's about who survives longest.
Masters don't chase luck's rewards—they only earn the solid money that comes from knowledge, systems, and discipline.
Return the luck to the market, keep the skill for yourself.
This is trading's true enlightenment.
