Slovenia Retail Sales Fall to Over 1-Year Low

Retail sales in Slovenia fell by 1.5% year-on-year in January 2026, reversing the 2.4% gain recorded in the previous month, marking the lowest level since December 2024. Sales declined for food, beverages, and tobacco (-1.4% vs 1.8% in December), while activity in motor fuel sales at specialized stores contracted sharply (-9.2% vs 0.5%). Sales of non-food products also eased, rising only 1.1% compared with 3% in the prior month. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales declined by 1.9% in January, after remaining stagnant in December.
