SMS codes are not arriving: why is this happening and how to regain access
If you encounter an issue where confirmation SMS codes are not arriving, it could be caused by a variety of factors—from simple phone memory overload to problems with your service provider. Let’s figure out why SMS isn’t coming through and how to fix it.
Smartphone Issues: Why Are SMS Codes Not Arriving on Your Phone
The first thing to check is how much storage your device has available. If your inbox is full, new SMS messages simply won’t be able to arrive on your phone. Delete old conversations and free up space in your memory. After that, turn off your phone completely, wait 10-15 seconds, and turn it back on. Restarting often resolves message reception issues at the software level.
Internet Connection and Network Problems
A stable mobile signal is essential for receiving SMS. Make sure you have a sufficient signal level (at least 2-3 bars). Poor network coverage can cause delays or complete failure to deliver confirmation codes. If possible, move to a location with better signal or try enabling airplane mode for 5 seconds, then disable it—this can help reconnect to the network.
Antivirus Blocking: Why SMS from Services Are Not Coming Through
Security apps may block incoming messages in the background. Check if sender numbers are added to a blacklist or spam filter. Open your antivirus app settings and see if message blocking from unknown numbers is active. If so, temporarily disable this feature or add the number to a whitelist. Also, ensure that your Android/iOS system isn’t blocking SMS at the OS level.
Operator and SIM Card Issues
Sometimes the problem isn’t with the phone but with the SIM card or the operator’s side. If you have a dual SIM phone, try swapping the card to another slot. This often helps avoid technical glitches. Better yet, insert your SIM card into another phone and try again—this will help you determine whether the issue is with the card, the phone, or the operator.
Contact your mobile provider directly and clarify a few points: whether your service has been suspended, if there are technical issues in your region, or if there are restrictions on incoming short messages in your plan. Sometimes operators temporarily block SMS traffic for security reasons.
Contact Support if the Problem Persists
If none of the previous steps resolve the issue and SMS codes still do not arrive, it’s time to contact the platform’s technical support. Prepare information about your account (UID), describe all actions taken, and specify the exact time you expected to receive the code. Support will check the sending logs and help identify the cause of the failure on their end.
