No one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will come first. I just found out that someone I had some interactions with before has passed away. A friend I used to have dinner with at a barbecue in October 2025 has died. It was only 12 days from the diagnosis to his passing. He had advanced liver cancer that had metastasized to his stomach.
I used to think he was just sore all over but didn’t pay much attention. Later, I was persuaded to go to the hospital, and by the time they checked, it was already this serious. The doctor said that with proper care, he might have had about a year left. He was hospitalized in Singapore for three days and then returned to his home country.
He went to a specialized cancer hospital, but within a week, more than a dozen people there had also passed away. His friends said they were scared, and it was the same circle. He had worked on several projects and was a shareholder in a somewhat well-known nightclub scene. And then he was gone.
Regular health check-ups are very important. The doctor asked him how it had been at least five years since his last check-up and why he never went for screenings. If he had gone a few years earlier, there might have been a chance to treat it or at least ease the symptoms. I met him in 2024. Looking back, he was already sick then. When I knew him, he loved to drink heavily at nightclubs. He was very thin and didn’t eat much.
Thinking about it, I feel quite emotional. Making money is important, but life is even more so. Once life is gone, no amount of money can bring it back. I hope everyone pays more attention to their health and gets regular check-ups. Only by staying alive do we have a chance. The longer we live, the greater the opportunity.
