Wu said that Vitalik Buterin donated to Shielded Labs to support the development of the Zcash consensus upgrade proposal Crosslink. Crosslink introduces a parallel finality layer on top of Zcash's existing PoW consensus to mitigate chain reorganization and rollback attack risks, provide stronger settlement certainty for confirmed transactions, thereby reducing double-spending risks, shortening confirmation times for exchanges and cross-chain scenarios, and enhancing support for applications that rely on deterministic settlement. This is Vitalik's second donation to Shielded Labs, with the first occurring in 2023 to support the formation of a development team focused on Crosslink.
