Morgan Stanley Applies for Cryptocurrency ETF, Joins Wall Street’s Layout
Morgan Stanley has submitted applications for Bitcoin and Solana exchange-traded funds (ETFs), marking its first move into this popular fund sector two years after the explosive growth of crypto ETFs in the U.S. The company filed for a Bitcoin Trust and a Solana Trust on Tuesday, both holding respective cryptocurrencies. The Solana product will allocate part of its assets to staking, allowing the tokens to support the blockchain network and earn rewards. The filings show that these trusts will be managed by Morgan Stanley Investment Management. As these filings were submitted, traditional Wall Street financial institutions are deepening their presence in digital assets. Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan Chase, and Citigroup have increased their efforts in crypto services for institutional clients, launching trading operations, and piloting custody, settlement, and tokenization projects. Bloomberg data shows over $150 billion in assets allocated across about 130 U.S. funds, a large portion of which is invested in Bitcoin-related products. Many of these products launched in January 2024 and quickly achieved success. (Sina Finance)
