Techub News reports that Sui published a report on the mainnet outage on January 14. The incident was caused by internal disagreements in validator consensus processing, leading to a continuous outage. This fault prevented validators from certifying new checkpoints, resulting in transaction timeouts. The issue was unrelated to network congestion or transaction volume. Sui's checkpoint certification and isolation mechanisms detected and contained the problem in a timely manner, and the fork visible to users was avoided by pausing the process. After validators deployed a fix and reprocessed consensus data, the network has returned to normal operation. Sui stated that no certification transactions were rolled back during this event, and user funds are secure.
