Tether-backed mobile payment app Oobit( is entering the US market. According to The Block on the 8th)local time(, Oobit is officially launching its “Tap-to-Pay” feature in the United States through a partnership with Bakkt).
This feature integrates with widely used non-custodial wallets such as MetaMask(, Binance, Trust Wallet), and Phantom, supporting real-time cryptocurrency payments on both iOS and Android devices.
While users pay with cryptocurrency, merchants receive immediate settlement in fiat currencies such as USD through the existing Visa( network. Oobit stated, “Entering the US is the biggest milestone in our global expansion,” and emphasized, “We are providing US consumers with their first real-world crypto payment experience using their existing wallets.”
Founded in 2017, Oobit raised a $25 million Series A funding round in 2024 from Tether, Solana) co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, CMCC Global, 468 Capital, and others. Last month, Oobit migrated its native OOB token from Ethereum to the Solana blockchain.
