Bloomberg: The G7 may discuss the threats related to North Korea's support for encryption attacks in June.

On May 8, according to a report by Bloomberg citing informed sources, G7 leaders may discuss the escalating threat posed by cyberattacks supported by North Korea and cryptocurrency theft activities at the summit in Canada next month. Informed sources stated that North Korea’s actions to fund its regime through cybercrime have raised “serious alarms”—White House officials previously disclosed that North Korea is financing its military weapons program through cryptocurrency plundering. According to data from blockchain analysis company Chainalysis, North Korean hackers stole $1.34 billion through 47 attack incidents in 2024, accounting for 61% of the total amount of cryptocurrency stolen globally that year. The company pointed out that hacker techniques are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it more difficult to trace stolen funds.
