Gate has launched advanced limit orders, offering professional traders more flexible tools for order placement.
The feature supports multiple execution types, including Post Only, IOC, and FOK , enabling users to align their trading strategies with specific needs. Whether you aim to earn maker fee commissions, pursue immediate execution and quick exits, or enforce a strict "all-or-nothing" rule, advanced limit orders have you covered.
Order Placement Area
1. Click the [Advanced Limit] tab and switch to the corresponding order zone.
2. Select an execution type:
Available options : Post Only, FOK, IOC.
a. Post Only

Description : A passive order that adds liquidity and is filled only as a maker , without immediately matching existing orders in the book.

Use Cases :

Earn maker fee commissions.

Avoid becoming a taker by preventing immediate fills.

Note : If the entered price is higher than the current best counterparty price, a pop-up will remind you that the order may be executed immediately.
b. IOC (Immediate Or Cancel)

Description : An order that fills immediately for the available amount , and automatically cancels any unfilled portion.

Use Cases :

Prioritize fast execution.

Avoid leaving pending orders on the order book.

Note : If the order is partially filled, the system will send a cancellation notification for the remaining amount.
c. FOK (Fill Or Kill)

Description : An order that must be filled in full immediately ; otherwise, it is completely canceled .

Use Cases :

Require all-or-nothing execution.

Prevent partial fills that may lead to incomplete positions.

Note : If the order cannot be fully filled, the system will send a cancellation notification .
3. Orders & Positions Zone
a. Open Orders
In the [Open Orders] tab, you can view the execution types for your orders (now supporting Post Only and GTC).
b. Order History
In the [Order History] tab, you can review filled and canceled orders, including those placed with Post Only, GTC, IOC, or FOK.
