Been watching the crypto market grind lower for months now, and honestly, people keep asking me why did crypto crash so hard. It's not just one thing - there's actually a perfect storm of issues that all hit at once.

Let me break down what really happened here. The biggest shock was that massive 10/10 liquidation event. Around 19 billion in leveraged positions got wiped out in what felt like minutes. We're talking 1.6 million traders getting liquidated. The liquidity just evaporated - market makers and LP providers pulled back hard, and order book depth supposedly dropped to almost nothing. That kind of shock doesn't just bounce back quickly. It leaves scars on the market.

Then there's the whole corporate Bitcoin buying story that completely reversed. Companies were loading up Bitcoin and Ethereum on their balance sheets like crazy. Early movers made bank, but it became this bubble where everyone thought they had to do it. Problem is, once the trend peaked and buying slowed down, all that upward pressure just vanished. A lot of these companies that were trading at premiums are now underwater.

The memecoin situation made things worse too. Tokens launching and collapsing within hours, massive retail losses, tons of pump-and-dump schemes. People got burned hard, and it absolutely destroyed confidence in the broader market. When retail loses faith, that affects everything.

On top of that, you've got macro headwinds and serious competition from other sectors. AI stocks like NVIDIA have been absolutely crushing crypto returns. Interest rates are uncertain, geopolitical tension is real, and risk appetite just isn't there anymore. With over 10,000 active coins competing for capital, liquidity got fragmented fast. Institutions are focused on Bitcoin and Ethereum, leaving smaller tokens fighting over scraps.

So why did crypto crash and stay down? It's the combination - liquidation shock, broken narratives, excess supply, and tighter liquidity all at the same time. The market needed to work through this, but every bounce has been weak because confidence is still rebuilding.

What matters now is whether we see real innovation, restored trust, and improving macro conditions. That's what's gonna determine if this is the bottom or just another leg down. Either way, it's been a solid reminder that leverage and herd mentality can wreck markets fast.
