Aave Labs makes a big step in tokenization and crypto.
Aave Labs, the institution behind Aave, which is the largest lending and borrowing platform in decentralized finance, has taken another step that will be widely discussed in the financial world. Horizon, created for corporate companies and long-awaited, was launched today.
Only authorized institutions…
Thanks to Horizon, institutions will be able to obtain loans with stablecoins by tokenizing real-world assets, known as RWA, using collateral such as US Treasury bonds. Horizon, which will be used on AAVE's latest main release, V3, will operate on a private and permissioned version of V3. This means that the protocol can only be used by institutions that have obtained special permission.
The statement noted that the system will operate 24/7 and will be fully compliant with regulations.
Qualified investors and institutions will be able to withdraw stablecoins such as USDC, RLUSD, and GHO from the system where they provided tokenized securities as collateral.
"This was necessary for transparency"
Aave founder Stani Kulechov recently addressed the growth in the world of tokenization and stated the following:
"In fact, Horizon was established to further grow the world of tokenization. Through this platform, institutions will be able to lend and borrow on a large scale. Horizon was also necessary for institutions to operate on-chain. 24/7 access, transparency, and more efficient markets will be achieved..."
Among the institutions that collaborated during the initial phase of Horizon's announcement are giants from both the crypto and traditional finance worlds. Circle, VanEck, WisdomTree, Chainlink, and Centrifuge are the most well-known of these institutions... These companies will support and oversee Horizon's technical infrastructure, liquidity, tokenized assets, and regulatory compliance.
