On January 20th, I was still filling up at 1.55 Australian dollars per liter of petrol. Yesterday it had already changed to 2.40 Australian dollars per liter. Over the past few days, I've been watching the numbers jump up every day. Filling up a full tank of petrol has gone from 70 to nearly 110 Australian dollars.

The impact of rising oil prices has finally reached the end consumers. Yesterday, I was planning to call someone to come fix my garage door, and they told me the service call fee would be 400 dollars because petrol is too expensive—coming out just for me would be costly.

I then found a guy on Hipages who happened to be passing near my house, and he only charged 260.

Yesterday I heard that domestic oil prices were also about to surge, which kind of balanced my mood. But today I heard that the National Development and Reform Commission used government subsidies to cover half the increase, and suddenly I felt that socialism isn't so bad after all😂😂😂
