New energy vehicle listed companies, the latest performance report is here

On April 1, China’s listed companies in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector released concentrated data on their March 2026 new vehicle sales. Among them, new power automakers such as XPeng, Li Auto, and NIO (NIO, XPeng Group, and Li Auto) and Leapmotor achieved varying degrees of month-over-month growth in new vehicle sales; BYD saw year-over-year decline in sales but maintained month-over-month growth; Xiaomi Group’s new vehicle deliveries exceeded 20k units; and Seres, which is partnered with Huawei, as well as Lantu, which just began trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, both recorded year-over-year sales growth.

Liangdong Zhishen, Secretary-General of the China Automobile Circulation Association’s Passenger Association, analyzed recently that from March to June 2025, the domestic auto market’s year-over-year growth rate exceeded 15%. The high base has created substantial pressure for the domestic auto market to achieve year-over-year growth in the first half of 2026.

New power automakers’ sales all achieved month-over-month growth

On April 1, according to an NIO announcement, in March 2026, NIO delivered 35,486 new vehicles, up 136.0% year over year and up 70.6% month over month. Of these, deliveries for the NIO brand were 22,490 new vehicles, up 120.1% year over year and up 48.4% month over month; deliveries for the LeAuto brand were 6,877 new vehicles, up 42.7% year over year and up 130.7% month over month; and deliveries for the firefly brand were 6,119 new vehicles, up 130.3% month over month.

Li Auto disclosed that its March deliveries were 41,053 vehicles, up 11.94% year over year and up 55.38% month over month. In a recent earnings call, Li Auto’s President Ma Donghui said that in response to the impact brought by rising component prices, Li Auto will strengthen coordination with supply partners and sign long-term LTA agreements with relevant suppliers to lock in prices or volumes in advance. The company will try to absorb external price-increase pressure internally, including its self-developed range extenders and self-developed chips.

According to an XPeng Group announcement, the company delivered 27,415 new vehicles in March, down 17.4% year over year but up 79.7% month over month. XPeng Motors recently announced on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange that effective April 1, 2026, the company’s Chinese name will change from “XPeng Motors Co., Ltd.” to “XPeng Group.” XPeng Group Chairman He Xiaopeng recently said that XPeng Group plans to launch a passenger-carrying demonstration operation for Robotaxi (autonomous taxis) in the second half of 2026, to validate the technology, customers, and business model.

Leapmotor disclosed that in March it delivered 50,029 units for its entire lineup, up 35% year over year and up 78.25% month over month. On April 1, Leapmotor issued a voluntary announcement stating that the company’s founder, Chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming, and shareholder Fu Liquan recently increased their holdings again. The average price was about HK$45.10, and the total amount of this increase was about HK$230 million. As of now, the cumulative amount increased by the single largest shareholder group of Leapmotor is nearly HK$1.2 billion.

Seres’ sales increased 20.74% year over year

BYD’s sales increased 57.8% month over month

On the evening of April 1, BYD announced that in March 2026, the company sold 300,222 new energy vehicles, including 119,591 passenger vehicles and pickup trucks sold overseas. Cumulative sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 15.8 million units. According to public data, BYD’s March sales fell 20% year over year but rose 57.8% month over month; cumulative sales from January to March fell 30.01% year over year.

On the evening of April 1, BYD released a sales poster for March, including data for its brands such as Dynasty, Ocean, and Avatr.

Xiaomi Group announced that in March, Xiaomi Automobile’s delivery volume exceeded 20k units. Since the new-generation Xiaomi SU7 began deliveries on March 23, cumulative deliveries have exceeded 7,000 units. According to a prior announcement, Xiaomi Automobile’s January deliveries exceeded 39k units and February deliveries exceeded 20k units; Xiaomi Group has not disclosed specific sales data.

On April 1, Lantu Automobile released the latest sales data. The company delivered 15,019 units in March, up 50% year over year and up 80% month over month; cumulative deliveries for January to March were 33,892 units, up 30% year over year. On March 19, Lantu Automobile listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange by way of introduction. Lantu Automobile Chairman, Party Secretary Lu Fang said: “Lantu Automobile’s March sales grew steadily. In the first month since listing in Hong Kong, it delivered a high-quality answer sheet. This is the market’s recognition of Lantu’s long-termism development path.”

On April 1, Seres released a production and sales quick report for March. The data shows that Seres’ new energy vehicle sales in March were 22,706 units, up 20.74% year over year; cumulative sales for January to March reached 78,500 units, up 43.9% year over year. Since 2026 began, the AITO series developed through the cooperation between Seres and Huawei has accelerated the iteration of new products. On March 23, the AITO M6 opened reservations, and orders exceeded 60k within 24 hours.
