I just read about Ben Armstrong's arrest, and honestly, it's one of those cases that sums up everything that can go wrong in the crypto space.

For those who don't know him, BitBoy Crypto was for years one of the most influential voices on YouTube. Since 2018, he started gaining traction talking about Bitcoin, blockchain, and market analysis. The guy had thousands of followers who trusted his recommendations. He even wrote books about cryptocurrencies for beginners.

But well, the story of BitBoy Crypto is a classic example of how popularity can become corrupt. He began promoting projects in a less transparent way, and the most serious scandal was the DISTX token back in 2020. That project was a total disaster for investors who followed his advice. Significant losses, angry people, and the influencer's reputation started to crumble.

Things got worse. In August 2023, he was removed from his own company, HIT Network. Imagine that: kicked out of your own project. The company later rebranded everything as Discover Crypto under new management, basically erasing any association with him.

And now, in March 2025, he was arrested in Florida. The charges are related to emails sent to Judge Kimberly Childs in Georgia. That is, he went from being a powerful influencer to facing serious legal issues.

What’s interesting is that BitBoy Crypto’s story has become a lesson for the entire industry. It shows that credibility is the most valuable asset in this space, and once you lose it, it’s almost impossible to get back. No matter how many followers you have or how many books you’ve written, if you betray the community’s trust, the consequences will come sooner or later.

It’s a reminder of why we need to be more critical of crypto influencers. Not everyone has the best intentions, and some are simply looking to benefit at others’ expense. Stay alert and always verify information on your own.
