The Shanghai Composite falls for a fifth straight week, losing the 3,900 level

Stocks on the A-share market remained soft ahead of the long holiday; the Shanghai Composite and the Shenzhen Component both moved back to roughly two-week lows, while total turnover across the two markets fell to a four-month low. Hong Kong stocks then began holiday trading suspension. The Shanghai Composite opened slightly higher by 8 points on Friday and soon reversed into a decline. In the afternoon it fell as much as 47 points, hitting a low of 3,871 points, and ultimately closed down 39 points (1%), at 3,880 points, after once again slipping below the 3,900 level. The Shenzhen Component fell by 134 points (nearly 1%), closing at 13,352 points. Total turnover across the two markets was 1.66 trillion yuan …
