ME News message, April 1 (UTC+8), David Miller, the Enforcement Director of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), issued a warning to insider trading participants in prediction markets, saying that enforcement action will be taken against violators. At the same time, the commission will exercise prosecutorial discretion and will not put resources into “trivial” cases. “We are watching closely. There is a misunderstanding in mainstream media and social media that insider trading does not apply to prediction markets…That is wrong. Our position is that event contracts are not gambling.
