Apple's entry-level laptop MacBook Neo released: powered by the A18 Pro chip, starting at 4599 yuan
Phoenix Technology News - On March 4, Apple officially launched the new MacBook Neo laptop, with a starting price of 4,599 yuan for the Chinese version. This model is equipped with the A18 Pro chip and features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display, available for pre-order starting today and will be officially released on March 11. John Ternus, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, stated that this is the most affordable laptop product Apple has ever offered.
In terms of core performance, the MacBook Neo features a fanless silent design, with its built-in A18 Pro chip integrating a 16-core neural network engine. According to official data, this model is up to 50% faster than popular PCs equipped with the latest Intel Core Ultra 5 processor when handling everyday tasks like web browsing; when running edge AI workloads, the speed increase can reach up to 3 times. Additionally, thanks to the energy efficiency of Apple’s chips, the device can achieve a battery life of up to 16 hours on a single charge.
In terms of appearance and hardware configuration, the MacBook Neo features an aluminum body, weighing approximately 1.22 kilograms (2.7 pounds), and is available in four colors: silver, peach pink, citrus yellow, and indigo. Its 13-inch screen has a resolution of 2408x1506, peak brightness of 500 nits, and is coated with an anti-glare layer. This model is equipped with a 1080p FaceTime HD camera, dual speakers supporting spatial audio, and an interactive module with a Magic Keyboard and multi-touch trackpad (some models support Touch ID), with two USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the side, supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0.
Regarding the software ecosystem and environmental data, the MacBook Neo comes pre-installed with the macOS Tahoe operating system, deeply integrating Apple Intelligence features and supporting seamless cross-device collaboration with iPhone through mirroring and continuity. Apple emphasizes that this product has the lowest carbon footprint of any MacBook, using 60% recycled materials, including 100% recycled cobalt in the battery, further advancing its goal of achieving full carbon neutrality by 2030.
