U.S. Consumer Confidence Index Drops Significantly as Inflation Expectations Rise
People’s Financial News, March 28 - A survey released by the University of Michigan on March 27 shows that the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index dropped significantly by 6% in March, the lowest level since December 2025, due to rising fuel prices and fluctuations in the financial markets. The ongoing conflict in Iran is further exacerbating the situation. The survey indicates that the final value of the U.S. Consumer Confidence Index in March was 53.3, down from 56.6 in February and down from 57.0 in March of last year. The survey also shows that inflation expectations for the next year rose from 3.4% in February to 3.8% in March, marking the largest month-over-month increase since April 2025. (CCTV News)
