Sri Lankan court approves transfer of "Dena" ship crew members' remains to Iran
According to reports by Sri Lankan media, on the 11th, the Galle Magistrates’ Court in Sri Lanka’s southern city of Galle made a decision approving the transfer of the remains of 87 Iranian naval frigate “Denna” shipwrecked crew members to the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka. The report said that the Galle Port Police had previously applied to the court regarding the matter of transferring the bodies. These remains are currently being kept at a local hospital in Galle. On the 4th of this month, the “Denna” was sunk by a torpedo fired by a U.S. Navy submarine in waters south of Sri Lanka. During the rescue operation, the Sri Lankan Navy recovered 87 bodies and rescued 32 survivors. As of the 9th, among the 32 “Denna” survivors, 22 have been transferred to a Sri Lanka Air Force camp after being discharged, while the remaining 10 are still receiving treatment at the hospital.
