Exports from Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Hit Record High for First Two Months
Beijing, March 23 — According to customs statistics, in the first two months of this year, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region’s imports and exports totaled 743.81 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 12%. Among them, exports reached 245.05 billion yuan, an increase of 18.6%, setting a new record for the same period, while imports were 498.76 billion yuan, up 9%.
Exports are improving and expanding, with electromechanical products accounting for over 60%. In the first two months, the region exported 147.61 billion yuan worth of electromechanical products, a 24.7% increase, accounting for 60.2% of the total regional exports during the same period. Among these, automobile exports were 15.69 billion yuan, up 17.4%; integrated circuit exports were 9.61 billion yuan, up 59.9%; lithium-ion battery exports were 4.50 billion yuan, up 124.5%. During the same period, textile and apparel exports reached 9.81 billion yuan, and pharmaceutical materials and medicines exports were 4.21 billion yuan, increasing by 27.7% and 14.2%, respectively.
According to Beijing Customs, in the first two months, Beijing’s high-tech product exports totaled 33.31 billion yuan, an increase of 23.5%, accounting for 33.8%, up 5.2 percentage points from the same period last year, driving Beijing’s export growth by 6.7 percentage points. Notably, exports of integrated circuits, automatic data processing equipment and their parts, and automobiles increased by 102.6%, 171.2%, and 31.1%, respectively, contributing 3.7, 1.9, and 1.3 percentage points to the overall export growth.
In the first two months, the import and export values of Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei increased by 7.6%, 9.1%, and 37.7%, respectively. The three regions experienced rapid growth in trade. Beijing’s total import and export value was 487.25 billion yuan, accounting for 65.5% of the total regional trade, highlighting its leading role in the region’s foreign trade.
During the first two months, the region’s trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 428.90 billion yuan, accounting for 57.7% of the total regional exports during the same period. The growth rate of trade with emerging markets was significantly faster than the overall level, with exports and imports to Latin America, ASEAN, and Africa reaching 84.73 billion yuan, 67.16 billion yuan, and 63.86 billion yuan, respectively, with increases of 23.7%, 29.9%, and 33.3%.
