$OKLO wins first NRC license approval and DoE OK for Aurora nuclear safety design
Tuesday after saying the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission issued the company's first NRC license, a materials license to the Atomic Alchemy subsidiary to handle, process, and distribute isotopes and begin initial commercial sales from its Idaho Radiochemistry Laboratory.
The license, granted after NRC review and onsite inspection of the Idaho facility, authorizes the company to receive, possess, use, store, and conduct chemical and/or mechanical processing, repackaging, manufacturing, and distribution activities involving up to 2 Curies of Ra-226.
Also, the U.S. Department of Energy approved the nuclear safety design agreement for its Aurora powerhouse at Idaho National Laboratory under the DoE's Reactor Pilot Program.
The nuclear safety design agreement is the first step under DoE's RPP authorization licensing pathway, launching the Aurora powerhouse at INL into the next phase of project execution under DoE oversight after initial groundbreaking in September.
Oklo (OKLO) said it plans to subsequently pursue licensing from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to support commercial operations.
The company will report its latest quarterly earnings after the bell Tuesday.
