Analyst Willy Woo: Beware of Bull Market Trap in Crypto, Current Market Has Only Completed 1/3 of Bear Market Process
On March 17, crypto analyst Willy Woo provided an analysis on X regarding cryptocurrency market trends, stating that Bitcoin's market fundamentals are currently maintaining their localized strength, with potential to touch the $80,000 range in the medium term, while $70,000 serves as the cost basis for short-term holders.
Willy Woo further explained that the main driver behind this wave of market movement comes from the futures market, where these investors are classified as short-term traders. While the liquidity brought by such investors has driven price increases, it also has obvious drawbacks.
This type of liquidity disadvantage not only amplifies the volatility of the spot market, making market movements more unpredictable, but also significantly increases the risk of leveraged positions being liquidated.
Based on this, Willy Woo reminds investors to be vigilant of bull market traps, because the bear market bottom structure has not yet formed, the market foundation is unstable, and blind optimism at this point can easily fall into the false appearance of a bull market.
From a liquidity perspective, although the current market has only completed approximately 1/3 of the bear market process, since mid-February, investor capital inflows have been continuously recovering, and the expected volatility (VDX) in equity markets over the coming weeks is also climbing.
Taken together, these phenomena indicate that despite the bear market not yet ending, investors have begun actively preparing for a shift toward "risk-on" mode in the coming weeks.
Overall, the market appears to still be mired in the bear market quagmire, but undercurrents are surging. Investor positioning and subtle changes in the market are both accumulating energy and setting the stage for the next market move.
According to his previous posts, typically after Bitcoin experiences rapid declines in the early stages of a bear market, it often undergoes sideways consolidation and launches short-term strong rebounds when encountering resistance levels, but this may signal that a bull market trap is forming.
The chain of reactions produced by this change not only has a significant impact on market volatility, but also brings greater uncertainty to both long-term holders and short-term speculators alike.
