On March 17, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption for the entire society for January and February. During this period, total electricity consumption reached 1,654.6 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 6.1%.

Breaking down by industry:

  • Primary industry: 22.3 billion kWh, up 7.4% year-on-year.
  • Secondary industry: 1,027.9 billion kWh, up 6.3% year-on-year, including:
    • Industrial electricity consumption increased by 6.4%.
    • Electricity consumption in high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries increased by 10.6%.
  • Tertiary industry: 323.1 billion kWh, up 8.3% year-on-year, with:
    • Charging and swapping services, internet data services electricity consumption increased by 55.1% and 46.2%, respectively.
  • Urban and rural residents’ living electricity consumption: 281.3 billion kWh, up 2.7%.
