Energy and Chemical Futures Prices Plummet Across the Board

Energy and chemical commodity futures main contracts all declined in the early trading session, with the Baltic Dry Index (European line) down over 12%, SC crude oil down over 11%, after initially rising over 8%. Ethylene glycol and methanol fell over 9%, caustic soda dropped over 8%, and briefly hit the limit down during the session. Butadiene rubber declined over 7%, pure benzene, asphalt, PVC, low-sulfur fuel oil (LU), PX, fuel oil, glass, PTA, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fell over 5%. Urea, bottle chips, and plastics dropped over 4%.
