South Korean media reports that Samsung’s (Samsung) first foldable screen smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, which was launched only four months ago, will cease sales mainly due to high production costs and persistent chip price increases, which have squeezed profit margins.

The Galaxy Z TriFold will have its final restock in Korea this week, while sales in the US will continue until current inventory is sold out. The Galaxy Z TriFold was first launched in Korea at the end of last year, and officially released in the US and other markets in January this year, priced at $2,899 (approximately HKD 22,612).

Due to limited production, the Galaxy Z TriFold sold out within minutes of its initial launch, and subsequent restocks have been similarly limited. As stock is very limited, demand in the secondary market is quite high, with reports indicating that the resale price is about three times the retail price.
