Foodservice distribution giant Sysco Corp. announced a major leadership transition, with Kevin Hourican taking the helm as president and chief executive officer effective February 1, 2020. Tom Bené stepped down from his positions as president and CEO, with an effective departure date of January 31, 2020. To ensure organizational continuity, Bené remained available as an executive advisor through March 1, 2020. The board of directors unanimously selected Kevin Hourican for the top role, recognizing his track record of driving growth at major corporations. In addition to the CEO transition, the board restructured senior leadership positions effective January 13, 2020, with Ed Shirley elevated to executive chair, replacing Bené, while Brad Halverson was named the new lead independent director.

Kevin Hourican brings extensive leadership experience from the healthcare and retail sectors. Most recently, he served as executive vice president at CVS Health and president of CVS Pharmacy, where he managed large-scale pharmacy operations and supply chain management. His tenure at CVS Health demonstrated his capability to drive market-leading growth for complex organizations. Prior to his CVS Health role, Hourican held executive leadership positions at Macy’s, where he served as senior vice president and regional director of stores, further solidifying his retail expertise and operational acumen.
