On February 28, the National Bureau of Statistics released the “Statistical Bulletin of the People’s Republic of China on National Economic and Social Development in 2025.” By the end of 2025, the total employed population nationwide was 725.04 million, with urban employment accounting for 475.35 million, representing 65.6% of the total employed population. The number of new urban jobs added nationwide in the year was 12.67 million, an increase of 110,000 compared to the previous year. The average urban surveyed unemployment rate for the year was 5.2%. At the end of the year, the urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.1%. The total number of migrant workers nationwide was 301.15 million, a 0.5% increase from the previous year. Among them, 180.06 million migrant workers worked outside their hometowns, a 0.8% increase; 121.09 million worked locally, a 0.1% increase.
