Russian media outlets such as Komsomolskaya Pravda reported on March 2 that the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, following instructions from President Vladimir Putin, dispatched an Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft to evacuate Russian diplomatic personnel and their families from the Middle East. According to Komsomolskaya Pravda, the news was confirmed by the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s press service, stating that an Il-76 would pick up Russian citizens from Egypt. The aircraft is carrying Russian diplomats working in Israel and their families, who previously arrived in Egypt through land border crossings at Sharm El-Sheikh. The report also mentioned that the evacuation was carried out in accordance with Putin’s directives. Additionally, TASS reported that one of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s planes would evacuate 84 Russian citizens from Egypt. (Global Times)
