IT Home March 1 News, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman stated in the latest issue of “Power On” that Apple plans to release a new Core AI framework at WWDC26, replacing the current Core ML.
Gurman said that it’s unlikely Apple will fully replace Core ML with Core AI all at once, and the June event might just be a simple rebranding to better align the framework with current practical uses, especially since Apple has already integrated large language models and diffusion models into Core ML.
Additionally, the Core AI framework will help developers integrate third-party AI models into their applications. However, the specific implementation details are not yet clear. Theoretically, MCP (Model Context Protocol) could be a feasible solution.
Although there have been rumors that Apple’s iOS 27 will focus on “zero new features” similar to Mac OS X Snow Leopard, mainly aimed at fixing bugs and improving stability, Apple might still unveil Apple AI trained on Google Gemini at WWDC26.
