Amazon, Google, Meta, xAI, and OpenAI will build their own power supply systems for data centers.
The main reason is: AI training/inference consumes huge amounts of electricity, with a large data center equivalent to the power usage of a city; upgrading the power grid takes years, and connection queues are long. Recently, President Trump's State of the Union address announced the "Ratepayer Protection Pledge," forcing these companies to sign agreements to build their own power supplies, aiming to stop dragging down ordinary people's electricity bills. Several giants have already committed or are in the process of signing.
