Wu Shuo learned that, according to Hong Kong 01, Hong Kong police announced the latest developments in the virtual currency trading platform AAX fraud case. A 39-year-old man suspected of managing the platform has been charged with 3 counts of "theft" and 1 count of "fraud," and was brought before the Eastern Magistrates' Court today. The police stated that since the platform was shut down in November 2022 under the pretext of "system maintenance," the person in charge took away approximately HKD 633 million worth of virtual currency from the platform. As of July 2024, police have received reports from 890 victims involving a total of HKD 208 million. It is reported that the 39-year-old suspect left Hong Kong in November 2022 and was later arrested upon re-entry in July 2024. Prior to this, individuals such as Leung Ho-ming, director of Vico Capital, and AAX founder and former CEO Chen Zhenxiong, had already been arrested.
