Abstract generation in progress

There are reports that U.S. President Trump said on the 5th that instead of extending the U.S.-Russia New START Treaty, which expires that day, it would be better to work on developing a “more effective and modern” new treaty that can be long-lasting.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on the 6th in response to related questions that regarding the media reports, China does not have specific information. In principle, from the perspective of maintaining global strategic stability in the long term, China calls on the U.S. to resume strategic stability dialogue with Russia and discuss the follow-up arrangements for the expiration of the New START Treaty, which is also the common expectation of the international community.
