Jamie Dimon: Serving as Federal Reserve Chair is "Absolutely, 100%, Impossible"

On Wall Street, rumors about Jamie Dimon becoming Treasury Secretary or even running for president have been repeatedly mentioned over the years. But the longtime CEO of JPMorgan Chase has drawn a clear line regarding the possibility of him becoming Federal Reserve Chair.
"The position of Fed Chair, I would categorize as 'Absolutely, 100%, impossible, no chance, for any reason,'" Dimon said on Thursday at an event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce when asked if he considered the role.
As for leading the U.S. Treasury Department, he said, "I’ll take that call." (Implying openness to the position) Dimon’s comments come after he publicly clashed earlier this week with President Trump over recent government criticisms of the Fed. The CEO also stated on Tuesday that weakening the Fed’s independence "is not a good idea," and could lead to higher inflation and interest rates in the long run.
