Cake Wallet integrates Zcash, enabling default anonymous transactions

Cake Wallet, a privacy-focused wallet closely associated with Monero, has just integrated Zcash (ZEC), expanding on-chain security tools for users.

According to the announcement, Cake has enabled Zcash shielded transactions by default, helping to conceal sender, receiver, and transaction amount information unless users actively disable it. Zcash supports two types of transactions: transparent, which are traceable like regular blockchains, and shielded, which use zero-knowledge proofs to encrypt all transaction data.

Cake Labs CEO Vikrant Sharma stated that privacy should not be an advanced feature but should become the default experience. This move reflects the growing interest in privacy-preserving blockchain solutions and indicates increasing acceptance of Zcash.

The proportion of shielded transactions on the Zcash network has now exceeded 23%, demonstrating growing confidence in the project’s encryption technology and a decline in legal concerns when using anonymous tools. Previously, the Gemini exchange also supported shielded Zcash withdrawals.

Cake said that the integration of Zcash was driven by community requests. The wallet also automatically rotates receiving addresses and always initiates transactions from shielded addresses, even with transparent transactions, to enhance user privacy.

In addition to Zcash, Cake Wallet also supports various security features for Bitcoin and Litecoin, and has added NEAR Intents to facilitate cross-chain swaps, which are popular among the Zcash community.
