TRC20 vs ERC20: What is the difference and why does it matter?

Abstract generation in progress

If you're into crypto, you've surely heard of ERC20 on Ethereum. Well, TRC20 is the same but on TRON.

The basics: TRC20 is the standard used by TRON to create tokens. It works the same as ERC20, only on a different blockchain.

The advantages of TRC20:

  1. Cheaper Transactions - TRON charges much lower fees than Ethereum. If your token has high volume, you save quite a bit here.

  2. Faster and more scalable - TRON processes thousands of transactions per second. ERC20 sometimes freezes when there is a lot of activity.

  3. Compatible with everything - TRC20 tokens work with wallets, DEX, and decentralized exchanges without drama.

  4. Equal Security - Use DPoS (Delegated Proof of Stake) to secure the network. As secure as any other blockchain.

What is TRC20 used for in reality?

  • Create your own tokens (utility tokens, stablecoins)
  • Launch ICO without breaking
  • Blockchain games with digital assets
  • Borrowing/lending on DeFi platforms
  • Trading on DEX without paying insane fees

What is happening now: TRON is growing because it is cheaper and faster. Many projects that previously used Ethereum are moving here. If TRON continues to scale, TRC20 could become as important as ERC20.

In summary: TRC20 = TRON's answer to ERC20, but more efficient. If you're looking to create a token without spending a fortune on gas fees, here is your option.
