Crypto owners are in the spotlight. Armed robberies. Kidnappings. Everything is on the rise, and it seems that no one is really safe.
Cointelegraph reports that four individuals are facing charges for breaking into the home of Amouranth, the famous streamer whose real name is Kaitlyn Siragusa. The assailants arrived armed. They wanted her cryptocurrencies. Dylan Nesho Campbell, Bryan Anthony Salazar Guerrero, and two minors are accused. The case is serious.
Kaitlyn is 32 years old. The night of March 2nd was hell for her. Guys with guns entered her house. They beat her. They threatened her with pistols. They demanded her private keys. Fortunately, her husband was on speakerphone during all of this. The intruders thought to use the call to access a crypto app. It didn’t work. Her husband, alert and armed, tried to locate them inside the house. Kaitlyn played smart. She told them she had a cold storage device. She led them around the house. Meanwhile, she was planning her escape. When she could, she ran towards her husband who was watching everything on the cameras. Once safe, he fired three times. It seems he wounded one. They all fled before the police arrived.
This is not isolated. It is an alarming trend. Siragusa had shared online that he had about 211 Bitcoin. More than $20 million in November 2024. Perhaps a mistake, it seems to me. In January 2025, a British court convicted seven people for a similar case. They kidnapped an investor. They beat him. They forced him to transfer funds. Months of torture. There is also the case of David Balland, the co-founder of Ledger. He was kidnapped in France. They held him hostage. The authorities rescued him, thank goodness.
The crypto world has its dark side. Criminals are after digital money. And frankly, it is unclear if anyone has found a definitive solution.
