The potential of ETH infrastructure is enormous, but its value is still underestimated by Wall Street.
In a recent podcast interview by Milk Road, SharpLink CEO Joseph Chalom and EigenLayer founder Sreeram Kannan pointed out that the current traditional financial system has structural limitations, and that ETH has great potential to replace Wall Street's outdated settlement system.
Traditional financial systems rely on all-day settlement cycles, which not only extend trading times but also increase counterparty default risks. At the same time, market participants need to provide collateral for overnight financing, which burdens investors, and this inefficiency has also become a source of huge profits for intermediaries.
In sharp contrast, Ethereum is able to complete transactions in seconds through atomic settlement functionality, completely eliminating counterparty default risk.
Chalom, who once led BlackRock's digital asset initiative, positioned Ethereum as "an emerging new type of public infrastructure," similar to the Internet of the Web1 era, capable of serving as a universal settlement layer for financial and economic systems.
In addition, Ethereum's programmable features allow it to achieve portfolio rebalancing through smart contracts, distribute dividends in minutes instead of days, and conduct composable trading, enabling any asset to be traded with any other asset at any time.
Kannan further elaborated on the vision of using Ethereum as a "verifiable trust platform," which aims to address counterparty default risk through cryptographic verification rather than institutional guarantees.
He also mentioned that the EigenLayer technology enables the Ethereum ecosystem to support other networks beyond the basic protocol, which brings broad application prospects to fields such as artificial intelligence agent verification, prediction markets, and autonomous systems.
In summary, Ethereum demonstrates enormous potential to replace traditional financial infrastructure, with its atomic settlement, programmability, and ability to eliminate counterparty risk, bringing revolutionary improvements to the efficiency of financial transactions.
Despite institutions accelerating their layout through channels like ETFs, the market still underestimates its long-term value as a "verifiable trust platform" and emerging public infrastructure.
As the advantages of staking and DeFi yields are recognized by more institutions, ETH is expected to become a new focus for institutional accumulation, surpassing BTC, and play a core role in the next generation of global settlement layers.
