I took my big nephew to college with my cousin. Time really flies; this kid is already in college! I used to play with him when he was younger. I also know his two other classmates, and we often played together when we were kids, but fate has made a huge change in the lives of these three!
Nephew, although you fell short by 4 points from your target university and missed out on your ideal university, getting into Hong Kong University is still very impressive. In fact, going to Hong Kong University of Science and Technology might have been even better, as the atmosphere for engineering and technology is stronger there, and you could have been an alumnus with the founder of DJI, Frank Wang. But this result is already very good.
My nephew's classmate is now a freshman at Monash University in Australia, having gone directly into the international track in his sophomore year. Several universities in Australia have ranked very high in recent years, offering great value for money. Although immigration thresholds have tightened, Australia is very friendly towards females, which is also quite nice.
Another boy, who loved to draw since childhood, initially wanted to pursue an artistic path and had a great talent for art. However, his parents were adamantly opposed and forced him to focus on studying, resulting in him becoming depressed. He dropped out in his second year of high school and stayed at home, self-studying psychology books. It seemed like his mind became even less clear. Interestingly, he established a Q group with thousands of fans, many of whom were in their thirties and forties, calling him "teacher" 🤣 to seek his advice.
Perhaps it is also a way out for him in life.
But it's also very lamentable!
Asian parents and children are very pitiful, caught in the rat race, rarely living for themselves, firmly resisting the internal competition, it's better to compete externally, haha!
