To address this issue, Caldera has proposed an innovative solution. Their goal is not to create another new Layer 2, but to build an intelligent cross-Rollup bridging system. This system is called the Metalayer unified layer, which can be likened to a multi-lane bridge equipped with smart navigation features.

The design philosophy of Metalayer is to first ensure connectivity and then optimize user experience. Its core features include:

1. Strong compatibility: Whether it is Optimistic Rollup or ZK Rollup, despite the huge differences in underlying technology, Metalayer can achieve direct connection and intercommunication through its "universal interface", avoiding the hassle of going through the mainnet.

Smart Load Balancing: When a certain Rollup experiences congestion due to a surge in transaction volume, Metalayer can real-time redirect data and assets to other available Rollups, similar to a traffic navigation system automatically recommending the best routes, thus ensuring a smooth user experience.

3. Retaining Rollup Features: Metalayer promotes interoperability while respecting and preserving the unique functions and advantages of each Rollup.
