BlackRock Boosts Ethereum Holdings with $151M Buy, Signaling Strong Institutional Confidence
BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) made a bold move on July 14, 2025, by purchasing approximately 50,970 ETH—valued at $151.4 million. This marked one of the largest single-day Ethereum buys by any institutional spot ETF, reinforcing bullish sentiment across crypto markets.
A Wave of Inflows: Institutional Demand Surges
The purchase was not an isolated event. BlackRock’s aggressive accumulation strategy has been part of a broader surge in institutional Ethereum investments. Earlier in July, BlackRock acquired an additional $158.6 million in ETH. Over the past two months, institutional Ethereum holdings through ETFs have grown by a staggering 150%.
ETF inflows are soaring, too. In just one week, U.S.-listed Ethereum spot ETFs drew in approximately $908 million.
Furthermore, CoinDesk reported that ETHA set a new record with a single-day inflow exceeding $300 million on July 11. This massive demand helped push Ethereum prices back above $3,000—a key psychological and technical level. In total, U.S. spot Ethereum ETFs attracted around $703 million in net inflows that week.
Why It Matters: More Than Just Numbers
The implications of these purchases go beyond raw dollar figures:
BlackRock’s recent $151.4 million acquisition fits into a consistent accumulation trend. Just days earlier, ETHA posted its historic $300 million inflow. Since May, institutional ETH purchases through ETHA have exceeded $1.5 billion, lifting BlackRock’s total holdings to about $4.45 billion—roughly 1.5% of all circulating ETH.
This escalating interest from traditional finance players suggests that Ethereum’s role in the broader investment ecosystem is solidifying. If inflows continue at this pace, Ethereum could be on track for new cyclical highs, supported by both liquidity and institutional backing.
