On May 7, Jin10 reported that, according to three informed sources, Trump’s envoy Witkoff is expected to briefly present the U.S. policy on the Gaza war and Iran nuclear negotiations to the UN Security Council during a closed-door meeting on Tuesday. Witkoff has become a key diplomat for the U.S. in the Gaza war, nuclear talks with Iran, the ceasefire with the Houthis, and negotiations with Russia over Ukraine. One source indicated that Witkoff is expected to focus primarily on Gaza and a new aid mechanism proposed by Israel and the U.S., which they claim will allow aid to resume without Hamas control. The UN and all aid organizations operating in Gaza have rejected this plan, deeming it ‘a violation of fundamental humanitarian principles.’ Nevertheless, the Trump administration continues to lobby countries to contribute to this mechanism and urges the UN to cooperate with it.
