Senate Republican Leader McConnell plans to vote on reopening the government on Wednesday.

Hasshi Chain reported that U.S. Senate Republican leader Thune stated that the Senate will vote on a bill to reopen the federal government on Wednesday. He expressed optimism that more support from Democrats will break the funding deadlock. In a television interview, he said, "We received three (Democrat) votes during tonight's vote." He added that Republicans hope to gain more votes in the next round of voting. "Ultimately, we will have enough votes in the Senate to pass the bill and keep the government running." Thune also accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, a Democrat from New York, of catering to progressive lawmakers. He pointed out, "This is completely unnecessary," stating that they are doing this only to appease the left-wing base and Schumer's fears.
